Le retour d’un mythe vivant
Vingt ans après sa création, La Edad de Oro revient sur scène au Théâtre du Rond-Point, portée par celui que le monde surnomme “le Nijinski du flamenco”.
Israel Galván, génie sévillan à la croisée de la tradition et de l’avant-garde, revisite ce solo devenu culte, accompagné de la voix magnétique de María Marín et de la guitare épurée de Rafael Rodríguez.
Ce n’est pas une reconstitution, encore moins un hommage nostalgique : c’est une renaissance. Un geste d’artiste mûri, affûté, plus radical encore — comme s’il rejouait son propre manifeste : « Pour moi, le bruit est silence. »

Un feu sacré sous contrôle
La danse de Galván est un paradoxe vivant. Elle tient à la fois du duel et de la prière, de la transe et de la retenue.
Sur un plateau presque nu, il érige son corps en instrument de percussion : le sol résonne, les bras sculptent l’air, le torse devient caisse claire. À chaque claquement, une phrase ; à chaque silence, une tension suspendue.
Cette précision extrême, entre cri et murmure, minimalisme et déflagration, confère à sa danse une intensité hypnotique. Certains parlent d’« une tension musicale irrésistible », d’autres évoquent « un orgasme d’atmosphère » : deux formules justes pour décrire cet entre-deux sensuel et spirituel, où le corps devient à la fois instrument et langage.

Un âge d’or sans ornement
La Edad de Oro s’ancre dans la mémoire du flamenco tout en dynamitant ses codes. Le trio – chant, guitare, danse – rappelle les origines, mais Galván, par ses syncopes, ses suspensions, ses déséquilibres, détourne le rituel.
Sa gestuelle unique décompose le compás ancestral ; il tord les conventions machistes avec un humour discret, parfois parodique, souvent bouleversant.
À la fin, les trois artistes échangent leurs rôles dans un clin d’œil jubilatoire : le bailaor devient chanteur, le guitariste danseur. Le flamenco, art de l’identité, devient ici art de la métamorphose.

Un choc esthétique et sensoriel
Le miracle Galván tient à ce qu’il ne joue pas le flamenco : il le vit, il l’habite.
Chaque geste, chaque regard, chaque vibration de son pied semble traversé par des siècles de mémoire.
Son corps respire Séville, mais son esprit regarde ailleurs : vers le contemporain, le burlesque, le silence. Sa virtuosité n’éblouit jamais gratuitement ; elle émeut par sa justesse.
Il y a chez lui un humour rare, une ironie tendre, une distance qui sauve du pathos. Un équilibre subtil entre féminin et masculin, entre l’animal et le céleste.
Certains spectateurs seront peut-être déroutés, d’autres y verront un absolu. Mais nul ne sort indifférent de cette cérémonie dépouillée, traversée par le duende, le feu sacré du flamenco.
